What Is NLP & How Does it Benefit You?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) or as it's more commonly called, “the study and application of excellence”, is the practice of understanding how we organize our thinking, feeling, language and behavior to produce the results we do.

Specifically, NLP provides us with a methodology to model outstanding performances achieved by geniuses and leaders in all fields.

Simply put, we can say that NLP is a collection of practical techniques, skills and strategies that are easy to learn, and that can lead to real excellence. It is also an art and science for success based on proven techniques that show you how your mind thinks and how your behavior can be positively modified and improved.

A key element of NLP is that we form our unique beliefs and values (internal mental maps of the world) as a result of the way we filter and perceive information through our five senses and life experiences.

Our first mental map of the world is constituted of internal images, sounds, tactile awareness, internal sensations, tastes and smells that form as result of the neurological filtering process. Our unique mental filtering system for processing the millions of bits of data being absorbed through the senses.

We then assign personal meaning to the information being received from the world outside. We form our second mental map by assigning language to the internal images, sounds and feelings, tastes and smells, thus forming everyday conscious awareness.

The behavioral response that occurs as a result of neurological filtering processes and the subsequent linguistic map.

There are three main things people struggle with every day of their lives. In a nutshell NLP teaches us that these three things are:

• What do you really want in life? (Rather than what you don’t want.)
• How to eliminate the barriers, conflicts or obstacles preventing you from getting there.
• How do you make what you want happen? (And this is the most important one.)

NLP coaching is about adding opportunities and widening perceptions, rather than dwelling on past negative experiences/stories. By re-writing your story you are able to shift your perspective of negative past experiences and view them with the knowledge and resources you've gained since then.

It is as though you experience your past objectively and for the first time rather than subjectively for the um-tenth time. This is the gateway to creating the life you love with immediate and permanent results.  NLP allows change to be made rapidly FASTER than traditional "talk therapy".

Its stunningly successful techniques can be seen in books and movies, such as THE SECRET where they have tried to bring its core ideas to a wider audience and show the deeply spiritual ideas within the recognized science - but it remains most accessible through a highly qualified practitioner.
